Talks for workplaces and sports teams

Practical, no-fluff sessions on stress, sleep, balance and concussion awareness. Built for busy teams and delivered on-site across Newcastle and the Hunter.

  • Workplaces

Help your team handle stress and deadlines, sleep better and show up more present and engaged.

  • A classroom or meeting room with four people, where two adults are standing at the front and two children are sitting and listening. The woman on the left has blonde hair in a bun, wearing a dark blue dress with floral embroidery on the shoulder, and the man on the right has short brown hair, wearing a black polo shirt and khaki pants, and is writing on a whiteboard. The children are wearing black shirts with a red cartoon character and the word 'RED' on the back. One child has glasses and brown hair tied back. The whiteboard has a diagram with words related to the brain and diet. There is a desk with books and a skull model in front of the children. The room has a window, cabinets, and a fire blanket sign on the wall.

    Sports

Help your players and coaches understand balance, injury risk and concussion.

For workplaces

Stress doesn’t clock off at 5pm

Most teams don’t lose productivity because people stop turning up. They lose it because people turn up exhausted, distracted and running on empty. Long hours, deadlines and broken sleep keep the nervous system stuck in “on”, and over time that shows up as sick days, short fuses and people who are there but not really there.

My workplace sessions give your team a simple understanding of what stress does to the body, and practical tools they can use at their desk, in meetings and at home. The goal is a team that’s present, focused and less likely to burn out.

Popular topics

Stress: what it’s doing to your team
What actually happens in the nervous system under pressure, how to spot it in yourself, and small daily habits to switch off.

Sleep: the performance tool nobody’s using
Why so many professionals are wired at night and flat by 3pm, and realistic ways to improve sleep without a total life overhaul.

Desk bodies: moving well when you sit all day
How long hours at a desk affect posture, tension and energy, with simple movement breaks anyone can do.

Every session is tailored to your team. Tell me what’s going on and I’ll shape it around that.

For sports teams

Look after the brain and body behind the performance

Whether it’s juniors, seniors or a club committee, players perform best when their body and nervous system are working well together. My sessions for clubs focus on the things coaches and parents most want to understand balance, injury awareness and concussion.

Popular topics

Balance and the brain
How the nervous system controls balance, coordination and reaction time, and simple drills that train them.

Injury awareness: moving well to play well
Common injury patterns, warm-up and movement habits that support players, and when to get something checked.

Concussion awareness for players, coaches and parents
How to recognise the signs of a possible concussion, why “if in doubt, sit them out” matters, and what the national return-to-sport guidelines say. Practical and clear, so everyone on the sideline knows what to do.

Sessions can run at training, before a game or as a parents’ and coaches’ night.

Meet your presenter

I’m Dr Conor Laing, a chiropractor and director at Healing Wave Chiropractic Newcastle. I spend my days helping families and professionals understand their nervous systems, and I love taking that out of the clinic and into workplaces and clubs. Outside work you’ll find me on the soccer pitch or out waterskiing, so I know what it’s like to juggle work, training and everything in between.
